Tumble down the rabbit hole..
Posted on Fri, 10 Oct 2014

Ahoy, and other nautical expressions! The time has come, our derby friends, to talk of other things - of skates and hits, almighty whacks, the 5th Birthday of South Sea!

You’re invited to jump down the rabbit hole and celebrate SSRD’s very merry 5th (UN)birthday for a night of nonsense as South Sea Roller Derby presents: THE MAD HITTER’S TEA PARTY! We have not one, but TWO huge bouts for you to lose yourselves in – that’s right! It’s a derby double-header!

First up, the Cutthroat Charmers will scream ‘OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!’ as they take on guests, The Witches of EastVic – who will be brandishing their Vorpal Swords.

The Blackheart Breakers are to follow, asking ‘WHOOOOO ARREEEEE YOUUUUUU?’ as the Dolly Rogers set out to paint the Breakers Red!

Are you getting curiouser and curiouser?

What: Mad Hitter's Tea Party Double Header - The Cutthroat Charmers vs The Witches of East Vic & The Blackheart Breakers vs The Dolly Rogers

When: Saturday, October 25th, doors at 6pm for 6:30pm start

Where: Springers Leisure Centre, 400 Cheltenham Rd, Keysborough

Who: All ages welcome, alcohol available for 18+

Bring something comfy to sit on or maybe even purchase a SSRD cushion for your behind and find a prime position trackside to witness the topsey turvey, inside out, psychodelic action with your own eyes.

Fresh off the bouting production line are a handful of brand new skaters for their debut bout! They’re all mad here.

Halftime entertainment will include good old-fashioned party games and a special appearance by the SSRD/EastVic Junior Derby League!

What’s a tea party without a little eat me/drink me? Soft drink and alcohol will be for sale at the bar (EFTPOS available) with hot food available on site too.

SSRD merchandise will be available for purchase on the night (EFTPOS available). Choose from league or team tees, stubby holders, bandanas, stickers and badges and our famous South Sea sailor hats.

We’ll be holding our famous raffle and running market stalls, please remember to bring cash. There are no ATM’s on site - EFTPOS is available only for merchandise and the bar.
