Rolling since 2009…

South Sea Roller Derby is a well-established league providing a fun, supportive community in which to develop and excel in this fast-paced, exciting, full-contact sport.

Our membership of players, officials on and off skates, coaches, support staff and volunteers is diverse, coming together with a shared passion for roller derby.

With over 25 years combined coaching experience, South Sea Roller Derby offers split level training. You train with skaters at your skill level, creating a safe and enjoyable environment for all. All skaters start at Skate School, where they learn the basics (like stopping and falling) and move up to higher levels at their own pace. Game-play is modified at each level to ensure skaters are introduced to the rules and varying degrees of contact, only when they’re ready. You can take your time, meandering through the levels or you could decide that total derby domination is your goal.

We have a very reasonable monthly fee structure, with training twice a week and we understand life can get busy so offer a casual training option as well. We are members of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and proud of our work with VicHealth’s This Girl Can Campaign.

We have three travel teams:

SIRENS

The Sirens have their hearts set on climbing up the Oceania WFTDA rankings and winning their division at The Great Southern Slam Australasian tournament every 2 years.

BANSHEES

The Banshees clock up some serious mileage travelling and playing regularly across Victoria in the Statewide Stampede Tournament. The team jump at the chance to squeeze in some extra game play at any opportunity.

KRAKENS

Currently in building phase and hoping to debut in late 2023, the Krakens is a development team that focuses on fun and learning for new to bouting skaters in a supportive environment.

I can’t imagine my life without derby now!

After attending the Intro to Derby intake I felt like I had gained a second family. Everyone is super lovely and it is just the most supportive fun environment that I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of!
