Somewhere over the rainbow…

On a seemingly ordinary Sunday at the end of July the roller derby community came together to turn Sk8house, Carrum Downs into a celebration of all things rainbow as South Sea Roller Derby present The Rainbow Lightning Premiership!

What is it?
An epic evening of full contact scrimmage with random rainbow teams battling it out over 10-minute mega jams to end up on top of the ladder!! Proceeds from the door sales & entry fees are donated to directly to a local group that engages with and supports a significant number of young people from the LGBTIQA+ community.

Um, What??
Skaters are randomly placed within 8 teams with 8+ skaters per team.
Games are played as a 10-minute continuous jam. No timeouts. No lead jammer. No call offs.
Fresh players can sub on when passing the team bench but must play smart as the jammer must do an initial pass before scoring.

RAINBOW LIGHTNING PREMIERSHIP 2019 raised an amazing $630 for Rainbow Connections Mornington Peninsula. This money will be put to good use by this grass roots community group to continue supporting young people from the LGBTIQA+ community.
